Subject: [NEDBIB-L] Memo on available documentation on southern Africa
Can you please distribute the memo below, detailing the documentation on
southern Africa which can be obtained from the former Library, Information

Amsterdam (free of charge). Thanks.

Memo on available documentation from the NiZA-BIDOC library
(September 2013)
Documentation (grey literature): brochures, reports, articles, leaflets,
documentation-sets, etc., the majority printed from internet sources; all
arranged geographically and chronological.
Period: almost all from the years 1999 - 2006 (5% from earlier in the
1990s).
Volume: in total 29 meters (all documents in solid plastic cassettes).
Subjects: South Africa (7,5 m), Zimbabwe (5,5 m; partly also arranged on
subject), Southern Africa (2,5 m; partly also arranged on subject), DRC (2,2
m), Angola (1,6 m), Netherlands (1,5 m), Africa general (1,5 m), Mozambique
(1,5 m), Namibia (1,5 m) and other countries/areas.
Language: apart from the Netherlands section (which is mostly in Dutch), the
documentation is mostly (approx. 80%) in English, with small sections in
French and Portuguese.
Described in (computer) database: all documents have a record in an
Adlib-database, including summarized descriptions (in the language of the
source) and (English) keywords. Database also available. In the annexes
three lists from this database to show what kind of documents these are and
how they are described.
