In de afgelopen jaren hebben velen van jullie met plezier cursussen en opleidingen gevolgd bij DO Consultancy.
Inmiddels zijn we wat uit ons jasje aan het groeien en is de beslissing genomen om de opleidingstak een eigen naam en onderneming te geven, en dat is inmiddels gebeurd : The Information Academy - Hét Opleidingsinstituut voor het Moderne Informatie-, Bibliotheek- en Archiefwezen is sinds kort geboren ☺
Bij The Information Academy gaan we net iets anders te werk tijdens het lesgeven dan bij de meeste instituten. De docent gaat bij ons niet alleen uit van een veelal one-way communicatie, maar betrekt de cursist er vanaf de eerste minuut uitgebreid bij. Door de lesstof levendig en met vol enthousiasme te brengen, ontstaan er waardevolle discussies en vullen cursisten elkaar aan. Zo ontstaat er een hogere vorm van efficiency en rendement tijdens de lesdagen en blijft de geleerde stof beter hangen. The Information Academy werkt niet met toetsen of examens omdat dit alleen de kennis op dat moment weergeeft en niet op langdurige termijn. Examens en toetsen zijn slechts momentopnames.
De duurzame kennisopname ontstaat juist door gezamenlijk te praten en te discussiëren tijdens de lesdag over de aangedragen lesstof.
Door de druk van examens en toetsen weg te nemen, zitten cursisten ontspannen in de les en nemen daardoor de aangereikte stof beter en duurzamer in zich op waardoor het met plezier en kracht kan worden ingezet en toegepast in de praktijk. En dat is uiteindelijk ook het beoogde doel van The Information Academy : duurzaam studeren zonder druk en een hoge opname en toepasbaarheid van de lesstof.
De agenda wordt momenteel goed gevuld voor de komende maanden, nieuwe cursussen en opleidingen worden ontwikkeld en ook nieuwe enthousiaste docenten worden aangetrokken, waarbij onze visie op lesgeven en het omgaan met studenten altijd gewaarborgd blijft.

The 42nd and 2018 edition of the International Conference of the European Library Automation Group (ELAG) will be held at the National Library of Technology in Prague, Czech Republic from June 4 to 7 2018.
We are inviting you to submit your proposals for bootcamp, presentation and workshop sessions on the theme "BLEND, DEBLEND".
More details on the call for proposals and Information on Conference topics and authors' guidelines are available at https://elag.org/.
Please submit via e-mail your proposal, following the guidelines, directly to Peter van Boheemen, Chair of the ELAG 2018 Program Committee, at peter.vanboheemen@wur.nl by February 26th, 2018.

The definition of research data is as encompassing as the field of grey literature. What should be included and what should be excluded is and remains an issue of concern. Research data can be defined as factual materials collected by diverse communities of practice required to validate findings. While the majority of research data is created in digital format, research data in other formats cannot be excluded. The formats in which research data appear are multiple and the types of research data are diverse. This also holds for the numerous document types in which grey literature appear published.
Today, while emphasis is placed on big data, the fact that the majority of research projects are small to medium size is overlooked. This is but another characteristic that holds true for grey literature. Nonetheless, one should be aware that research publications are not research data, for they are often managed separately from one another. Just as there are a number of stakeholders involved in the production, access, and preservation of grey publications, so too are there stakeholders tasked with the creation and management of research data. Libraries and data management librarians have the responsibility for the curation of the data they collect and preserve. And, it is important to stress the need to maintain appropriate metadata related to research data in order to facilitate their interpretation and further reuse.
Over the past quarter century, grey literature communities have worked diligently to demonstrate how their documents are produced, published, reviewed, indexed, accessed, and further used, applied, and preserved. Today, these communities are now challenged to demonstrate how research data fuels and sustains their grey literature. These communities of dedicated researchers and authors maintain a strong conviction in the uses and applications of grey literature for science and society. Through the years, they have proved willing to share the results of scholarly work well beyond their own institutions. Hence, one can assume they are aware that innovation forfeits with the loss of data as with the loss of information. Beste informatieprofessional,
Er is nog plek voor een aantal deelnemers voor de tweedaagse training Account- en Relatiemanagement voor informatieprofessionals in Weesp op 1 en 22 februari 2018. Het resultaat van deze training is een relatiebeheerplan voor 2018!
Deze training geeft onder andere inzicht in:
Daarnaast wordt gewerkt aan communicatieve vaardigheden als presenteren/pitchen en adviseren .
Deelnemers sluiten de training af met een relatiemanagementplan: een plan van aanpak waarin planmatig en gestructureerd wordt beschreven hoe en met welke doelgroepen op kortere en lange termijn relaties worden opgebouwd en onderhouden. Met als doel toegevoegde waarde te leveren aan deze groepen met de informatiedienstverlening.
In de training worden theorie en praktijk afgewisseld. Deelnemers gaan naar huis met direct toepasbare oplossingen en ideeën.
