EDITOR'S NOTE - In December 2004, during GreyNet's First Annual Award Dinner
at the New York Academy of Medicine, plans were announced for the launch of
The Grey Journal. The following spring, the first issue of the new journal
appeared in print and electronic formats entitled "Publish Grey or Perish".
This current issue marks the journal's twenty-seventh thematic edition -
completing its ninth volume. The range of themes and topics in these volumes
cross disciplines, sectors, as well as new frontiers in grey literature. The
Grey Journal has truly become that which it set out to be a decade ago, "the
flagship journal for the international grey literature community". The
journal articles that appear published in this series are due to the work of
hundreds of dedicated authors and researchers, journal editors as well as
corporate authors whose support sustains its publication. Together these
stakeholders are the guarantee of quality and diversity in this field of
library and information science. In 2008, The Grey Journal was awarded the
coveted Victorinne van Schaick Prize. Over the years, all fifteen GreyNet
Award Recipients have published in this series, and the journal continues to
benefit through its longstanding license agreement with EBSCO, agreements
with abstracting and indexing services, as well as with leading subscription
agents. The current issue entitled "Improving Grey Literature through
Innovation" focuses on positive change in the field impacted by digital
culture, e-publishing, open access, data analytics, and more. On the eve of
its 10th Anniversary, this flagship journal takes stock in its past and sets
