Welcome to the IFLA satellite meeting in Malmö August 7-10 2010.
Building strong communities: unleashing the potential of public libraries to build community capacity, engagement and identity
The library as the heart of a democracy - can anything be of greater importance for us?
We offer you a very interesting programme. Plenary sessions with keynote speakers, sessions for discussions, networking, knowledge sharing and social activities. The discussions are organized in five themes - PLACE, PRODUCT, PROMOTION, PARTICIPATION and POLITICS. Welcome to learn from colleagues all over the world - from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Romania, the neighbouring countries Denmark and Finland and many more.
Listen to, among others, Sari Feldman, Executive Director of Cuyahoga County Public Library and President of the Public Library Association comparing US delivery services in the digital age to Chinese experiences.
The social programme includes conference dinner at the Malmö Opera house and study tours in the region.
Malmö is the most dynamic city in Skåne, located in the beautiful southern part of Sweden. It is very convenient to get to Malmö via Copenhagen Airport. The train from Copenhagen Airport to Malmö Central Station takes approximately 20 minutes.
