The UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education offers post-graduate courses
and PhD research programmes in Delft, The Netherlands, and carries out
research and capacity building projects all over the world. The mission of
UNESCO-IHE is contribute to the education and training of professionals
and to build the capacity of sector organisations, knowledge centres and
other institutions active in the fields of water, the environment and
infrastructure in developing countries and countries in transition.
UNESCO-IHE has a permanent staff of 160, of which 90 are scientific staff,
while about 250 guest-lecturers from academia and industry contribute to
the educational programme. Each year 750 participants (incl. about 200 new
MSc students per year) from all over the world attend the various regular
and short courses at UNESCO-IHE.
The Library of the UNESCO-IHE contributes to the educational and research
activities of academic staff and students by gathering, accessing and
distributing information and scientific literature. For this department we
are looking for a
Library Trainee (m/f) – between 0,5 and 1 FT
Activities
The trainee is performing professional duties in one or more of the
following areas:
• On-line search
• Providing specialized assistance to students and academic staff
• Processing of library materials and assistance with special
projects as needed.
• Furthermore the trainee will be envolved in the project of
migration to a different record data format and new catalogue.
Requirements
• Second or third year student in Information and Library Management
(IDM)/ SGO Library School or similar (MBO/HBO)
• Ability to communicate in English and Dutch, both written and
verbal
• Ability to work with an international and multi-cultural user
community
• Good interpersonal and communications skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
Conditions
We offer you a dynamic international and professional working environment,
with a challenging opportunity for hands-on experience. This position is
for a period of 4 to 6 months or according to the guidelines of the
applicant' study requirements. We provide a monthly remuneration. The
applicant must be a student and resident of the Netherlands.
